Help this family adopt!

Hi folks, I would like to tell you about my daughter.  Growing up she was a devoted sister to her special needs brother. Now grown she and her husband are hoping to adopt a child with special needs from China.  Inspired by her late brother, she became a VI teacher. Her family will make a great family for this new addition. Fees for this process are astronomical. They are raising funds with a puzzle piece fund drive, as pieces are purchased the donee names will be placed on the back of the puzzle piece and the completed puzzle will be hung as a remembrance in their new childs room. Found a Skort at Target for $2.40!  On a $3.00 Walmart shirt I appliqued a similar motif from the skort.  Cute outfit for granddaughter for less than $6.

Similar Blocks - Applique Placement

Having 25 identical blocks,  I taped off the measurement of the block with painters tape then I taped an old ziplock bag over the top and put the first block in with the correct placements.  I traced the placement on the outside of the bag with a marker and slipped in each the remaining blocks.

Faux granite - Painting formica countertops

Lightly sand,  two coats of Rustoleum countertops,  sea sponge acrylics,  poly!

Matching a missing decorative tile

Sketch roughly with pencil, paint with acrylics, spray with poly.  It doesn't have to be perfect because the eye sees what it wants to see.

Dif by Rustoleum removes poorly applied Latex Paint

Dif by Rustoleum removes latex paint that has been painted over unprepared semi-gloss.  I found this out after scraping an entire wall.  Just follow the directions for removing wallpaper.

     I grabbed my favorite ten year old boots last week and the man made materials had cracked.  I know they were cheap boots from Payless,  but they were extra wide and comfortable.  Comfortable boots are hard to find and the soles were still good,   with a little duct tape I saved them.

Restoring shine to laminate formica countertops

I actually liked my countertops.  While I'm not a fan of granite,  I do admire the shine.  Sadly my 10 year old countertops have become scratched and dull.  After cleaning them with 409 I applied simple Mineral Oil and polished them with a lint free cloth until the oil was absorbed.  It worked so well I put some on my vintage formica kitchen table.

Let dry completely before sealing

When your zinnias start to fade,  clip them off about six inches below the heads and dry upside down.  When dry - clip the heads and seperate the seeds from the petals.  Package the seeds for next year and the petals for potporri gifts.  Don't seal the packages yet,  store them open several more days to make sure they are dry.
